This is our plan for our incoming trip to Switzerland June 10-June 21.
June 10th: Arrive in Zurich at 16:55 pm. Get to our hotel Altstadt Boutique Hotel & Bar Zürich. Dinner at try to stay awake as much as possible.
June 11th: Explore Zurich for the day.
- Augustinergasse – pedestrian street
- Cathedrals: Grossmunster &Fraumünster Church
- Bahnhofstrasse – street with high end shops Jelmoli -department store
- chocolate walking tour Shops to stop by : Sprüngli(high end of Lindt-truffles and pralines,macarons called Luxembürgerli), Max Chocolatier(in Lucerne too), Teuscher (expensive-try champagne truffles), Vanini(ice cream), Läderach & Lindt, Vollenweider(very good macaroons) ; Fancy grocery with good quality chocolate : H. Schwarzenbach AG, Berg und Tal im Niederdorf
Läckerli Huus AG – try läckerli – Swiss biscuit - chocolate workshop at Läderach Bahnhofstrasse 106, 8001 Zürich, Switzerland
- lunch at Tibits vegetarian or Ban Song Thai Restaurant (right by us) with lunch buffet
- evening – go up on Lindenhof hilltop for city views
June 12th: Day trip trip to Lucern by train( Zurich – Lucerne: 10:10-10:51 Lucerne-Zurich: 16:35-17.25 )
- Chapel and Spreuer Bridges (check the paintings)
- painted city squares like Sternenplaza, Kornmarkt, Hirschenpl., Weinmarkt .
- Jesuit church and Hof church
- visit de medieval wall Museggmauer, Jesuitenkirche (Jesuit church) or the Lion Monument, Glacier Garden of Lucern or Bourbaki Panorama
- eat cheese pie at Cheese Store – Cheese Barmettler
- lunch at Karls Kraut by the river (healthy swiss restaurant) or lunch at the roof top restaurant at Manor department (view & buffet style)
- Lucerne lake cruise or lake promenade

June 13th: Going to Wengen – Saver Day Pass
Train: IC81 11:02 -13.42 (2h 40min)
Settle at our apartment Chalet Silberhorn Lunch at Cafe Waldschluecht (Swiss-good fondue, vegetarian) and grocery shopping( Coop and Chas-Gruebi – cheese shop – ask for fresh milk and yogurt)
hike to the church for a good view and if time permitted walk to Staubbachbänkli (30min) to see ibex (maybe :)). Stop at Chalet uf em Melk for local milk and honey.
Folklor Evening at 8:30pm – alphorn and yodeling
Hike starting from our base Wengen: Please look over this map to understand the mountains and areas in Bernese Oberland.

June 14th: decide BOP (Bernese Oberland pass for 3 adults, Clara – child pass ) – 4 or 6 days ??
Gondola to Männlichen (Gondelbahn) – 14min (trip W-M and KS-W = $39)
To do: Royal Walk, if open hike Männlichen to Kleine Scheidegg eat lunch at KS – Restaurant Grindelwaldblick take train back (total tickets CHF 30) or hike to Wengen (total 2h 30min) via Wengernalp

June 15th (Saturday): BOP Grindelwald First – check weather before
Wengen – Grindelwald First via Lauterbrunnen 1h or Wengen – G via Mannlichen 55min
Walk to this farm fridge to get cheese and other picnic items. Walk through the city to Grindelwald gondola and up to First (25min)
hike to Bachalpsee Lake 2.5h round trip , Maybe (need to check) hike to Grosse Scheidegg 1h
back to G. stop at Cafe 3692 for lunch back to Wengen

June 16th(Sunday) – BOP most of the stores closed – need to recheck hours for Cafe and restaurants here
Lauterbrunenn Valley in the morning – train down from Wengen 13min.

Stop at the Visitor Center for map and at one of the cafe and walk to View wasserfall and also to Staubbachfall Viewpoint for great views of the valley. Walk on the valley towards Trummelbach falls, stop at the food vending machine for milk, cheese and others. Continue to Trummelbach falls. If time walk to Stanbach for fridge farm and beer. Take the bus back to the train station.
Train Lauterbrunnen to Interlaken Ost (22min) , boat from Interlaken Ost to Giessbach See . Go up to see the Giessbach Waterfalls and behind the waterfalls. Stop at the restaurant for view and maybe some treats. If enough time go to Brienz or back to Interlaken and maybe Harder Kulm if lines are not too long.

June 17th (Monday) Mürren – train down from Wengen to Lauterbrunnen. Cable car up to Grütschalp (called Bergbahn Lauterbrunnen-Mürren)
Consider Saver Day Pass
Hike M1 ( see image June 16) from Grütschalp to Mürren via Winteregg (1h14″) – after Wintereg stop at Alpkaserie Staubach for cheese and yogurt or if short in time train to Winteregg and hike to Murren
Lunch at Eiger Guesthouse Mürren -, explore Murren take pics at Murren Viewpoint (on the img below close to 068) . Img might not be very accurate.

Afternoon hike : cable car up to Allmendhubel -Flower trail short hike(30min) and North Face Trail(counter clockwise) moderate hike that provides great views to three major peaks: Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. Check for zipline close to pension Suppenalp. If enough time short detour to Sprutz waterfall. The trail is 4.6miles a little over 2 hours.
Option: hike/walk on a paved trail to Gimmelwald 1.9 miles (1h3min)..definitely check out The Honesty shop or take cable car down to Gimmelwald then down to Stechelberg, bus to Lauterbrunnen and train to Wengen .
Shorter route back to Wengen: Murren – Grütschalp train(23″) , cable car down to Lauterbrunnen (10″) and train back to Wengen (11″)

June 18th(Tuesday)BOP Schynige Platte – 11:00 am and 2:00pm alpenhorn concert up on the plateau

train Wengen to Wilderswil (34min)
in Wilderswil stop at Roger’s Bäckerei anno dazumal (very good cinnamon rolls) and fridge farms near this location .
Take cogwheel train up to Schynige Platte(covered in BOP) -52″. Hike to Daube viewpoint (around an hour) ,botanical alpine garden.
Walk above the cogwheel railway station to the Schynige Platte nature cinema( a huge frame).
Maybe do the Oberberghorn Panorama trail (1h30″).

June 19th(Wednesday)BOP-Jungfraujoch trip if weather is good. Leave before 10:am
Jungfraujoch is also called “Top of Europe” because it’s Europe’s highest train station at 3,454 m.
Cable car Wengen – KS – Eigergletscher(55min) – train to Jungfraujoch(35 min dark tunnel)- total 1h25min( Tip- stay on the right side for the best views) Need to pack an extra pair of socks
Can buy Good morning tickets 25% cheaper for the first 3 connections from Eigergletscher (7:45, 8:15, 8:45)
If no high altitude sickness walk on the Aletsch glacier to get to Mönchsjochhütte / mountain hut
Coming down stop at Eigergletscher check out the observation deck and maybe Eiger Trail to Alpiglen (4.5 miles 2-3 hours, downhill), go back through Grindelwald stop for lunch at Cafe 3692.

June 20th Wengen- Basel
What to see in Basel: Basel Minster (the cathedral- you can climb the tower), Marktplatz (local produce-open daily7am-2pm), Spalenberg(shopping)
What to see in Bern: pedestrain streets Kramgasse and Münstergasse, Zytglogge – Astronomical Clock Tower(chimes by the hour, check paintings inside the tower), Renaissance fountains, Einstein Museum, back of Parliement building or the Cathedral for great views
