June 25
Coming from Marseille, we will land in Lisbon around 2:00 pm. Taking an Uber or Taxi will go to our apartment in Chiado: The address is: LARGO DA ACADEMIA NACIONAL DAS BELAS ARTES-14 across from National Academy of Bell Artes. Eating at Kaffehaus – austrian restaurant near us or The Green Affair – vegan restaurant
Praca De Commercio – waterfront square
17:45pm 2 hours tuk-tuk guided Lisbon tour (to stop at Graca viewpoint close to sunset). Stops include Lisbon Cathedral, the Church of Saint Anthony, the Castle district, the Monastery of Saint Vincent
June 26
Trip to Cascais (which is pronounced more like “Cash-Ky”) : Cascais and Estoril are know as Portuguese Riviera
first drop Robbie at the airport around 9:00 am . Uber to Cascais – resort town. Wonder through the old town: try Morrocan food at Le Marocain or piri-piri chicken at Dom Manolo and the best ice-cream in Portugal at Gelato Santorini . Stroll on Portuguese Riviera, Cascais Estoril Paria do Tamariz (3 km coastal stretch ) or stroll opposite direction to Boca Di Inferno (with the old, scenic cliffs) and on the way see from the outside Museum Condes castro De Guimarez (closed on Monday) and Santa Maria light house.
dinner at Club De Fado ( should make reservetion)
or Fado Inside the Box at Adega Machado (Fado show with explanation , tapas and wine Euro17)
June 27
Sintra guided tour from Lisbon –
starts at 8:15 am from the Foz Palace at Restauradores Square
Highlights:
- Pena Palace(Palacio de Pena), a former residence of the Royal Family
- Quinta da Regaleira andthe Initiation Well
- City Hall and the Park of Liberty
- Drive by Seteais Palace and through the stunning Sintra Mountains
- Monserrate Palace and its exotic gardens
Lunch at Sintra’s old downtown To try Bacalhau Na Villa – different cod based dishes or Tascantiga -small portions to share plus soups , Desert at Casa Piriquita
June 28
Lisbon sightseeing on our own
1.Belem (maybe Uber there)
- Jeronimos Monastery ( need to buy tickets)
- Pasteis de Belem for the national egg custard /Pasteis de nata (enter through the left for the sit down menu – line is shorter)
- Tore de Belem ( Belem Tower ) from the outside
2.National Tile Museum ( open 10-13 and 14-18pm)
3. ruins of Carmo Church and getting to Santa Justa Lift from there. (also Mango store nearby has a great view from the last floor)
To check out:
- A. Brasileira – the oldest cafe in town
- visit the viewpoint at the top of Santa Justa elevator via Largo Da Carmo
- if extra time : Oceanário de Lisboa in a modern/futuristic part of Lisboa : The Parque das Nações also include gare de Oriente Calatrava’s design
- some art street: 23 Rua Vinha
- viewpoints: Miradouro De Santa Lucia (tiled terrace with a bar above the lookout – walked to the end and follow a small staircase, 2 big tiles at the back of the church of Santa Luzia), Miradouro da Graça (with cafe)
- beautiful tiled houses:in Chiado, Campo De Santa Clara 124, Casa do Ferreira das Tabuletas, Must Do : A Vida Portuguesa, Madre de Deus Convent (National Tile Museum), Monastery Sao Vicente De Fora (rooftop terrace)
- the Castello de São Jorge – to climb up use the free lifts at Rua dos Fanqueiros and Largo Chão do Loureiro
- Elevador da Bica – funicular
- MUST try the green wine and local drink ginja or Ginjinha
- Rua De Carmo in Chiado – look for an old green van that sell Fado records
- Palace Frontiera – beautiful tiled outside garden (far from downtown)
Restaurants:
- A Provinciana – budget portuguese food – Plate of the day
- Casa de Alentejo – near Foz palace – tiled interior – good pesticos/entree
- Cantinho do Aziz – A taste of Mozambique- good samosas ..vegan dishes
- Olho Bacalhau – for pastéis de bacalhau at Time Out Market
Things to know:
- couvert items – appetizers served at restaurants are not free
- street food: Prego/ beef sandwich, pastéis de bacalhau (codfish cakes)

- avoid to eat in Rua Das Portas de Santo Antao
